NEW IMAGES INTEC MARINE 90 HYBRID
The Intec Marine 90 is the first yacht of a series of energy efficient next generation yachts with hybrid propulsion designed by Guido de Groot. Besides it's energy efficiency, the yacht will emit lower noise levels and lower emissions of NOX and CO2. It has been developed in a joint effort with San Diego based naval architect Doug Sharp. A lot of special care for the environmental concerns has been taken into consideration in the design, the construction and the operation of the yacht.
The Intec Marine 90 will have a RINA marine green star design certificate. Although having a length of 27.5m only, it is a true 3-deck displacement motor yacht. She features a unique frontal dining area on the main deck directly connected to an outdoor seating area and a whirlpool. Because of the innovative electric propulsion set-up, more space is available for the crew and guest areas on the lower deck. Another large outdoor area can be found on the aft bridge deck, which is partly covered by a bimini topped with solar panels.

THE SELENE 128 OCEAN TRAWLER
The Selene 128 is the result of a international collaboration of designers and architects under Howard Chen's design team leadership. Howard Chen has worked closely with renowned Dutch designer Guido De Groot and a group of International consultants to develop a contemporary take on the long range yacht whilst capitalizing on builder Jet Tern Marine's high quality construction and reputation for experience and innovation in the displacement yacht sector.
Although the yacht is taking design elements from the new Selene 92, of which the first yachts are currently under construction, the Selene 128 is a true 3 deck displacement motor yacht with a sundeck as 4th deck. She has a modern look with a rather sharp angled bow, giving her together with her round surfaces and stylish feature lines on the side extra elegance and sleekness.
Built in GRP, the new Selene 128 will be the longest yacht in the new range of Selene yachts. The lower deck has 2 guest cabins and 2 VIP cabins, which are all en-suite. The crew area is located in the bow of the yacht, and has got space for 10 crewmembers. In the stern of the lower deck there is a technical space and a special area for diving gear. This area is connected to a very large swimming platform. The spacious main salon is located on the main deck and is directly connected to the aft deck. The round dining table provides space for 12 persons. The galley is situated in the middle of the main deck. The spacious full beam owners cabin, which is located in the front-part of the main deck, has a bath, a large shower area and a fantastic view over the water through the large windows in the hull.
The bridge deck has a luxurious full beam lounge with a bar, pantry and comfortable U-couch. The captains cabin is also located on the bridge deck and has directly entrance to the bridge and the yachts office. As on every Selene, the Portugese bridge leads to the bow, where the foredeck lounge is situated with a large U-couch and a sunbed area.
The Selene concept is simple - get you there safely and efficiently. Selene quality is blended with the ABS and MCA requirements for yachts, creating a solid platform for enjoying remote destinations with family and friends. Style, structural engineering, and performance have all been blended to create the perfect Ocean Explorer that makes cruising plans that include longer distances between ports and more varied adventures. |

INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT, AQUALINER 77
For the company Aqualiner Guido de Groot Design has developed a stunning interior for two Aqualiner 77 Flybridge models - both of which are currently under construction. For the interior style we embraced a contemporary architectural approach mixing modern materials like glass, white lacquered surfaces and stainless steel with warm materials such as anigre, wenge and mahogany wood surfaces, fabrics and leather. When you enter the salon the glass panel partition walls (which separate the galley from the salon and the wheelhouse) allow you to look directly through to the forward area of the yacht. For privacy in the galley area, blinds are located behind the glass panels. The glass panels are double layered with an integrated sandwich layer patterned with tree leafs and branches and are slightly opaque in nature. This is one of the key main features of the salon. For the light woods on board we have chosen a slightly white washed "anigre". The darker wood specified on the the walls and selected furniture pieces is "wenge", while the parquet floor is made from "santos mahogany" wood planking. Cupboards are both finished with leather or are white lacquered, and the walls are covered with a horizontal patterned fabric. On the ceiling "ultra leather" is used and displays a distinctive feature by running down partly on the sides of the walls. The table can be raised and by placing a table top (foldable and stored else where) it can be changed in a dining table. This means there are several options for dining on board. The galley can be separated in 2 areas; a part that can be enclosed and a part that is a passage area as well. The main appliances are indicated on the GA. The top surfaces of the working areas are made from "Cesar Stone" (this is a fake stone suitable for galleys). Furthermore we used on the wall and on the sliding door in the passage a carved wood panel with a linear pattern in white (from the French make "Marotte") in order to add some more interest in this area. The furniture in the passage area is having a white matt lacquered finish and can be seen as a sort of self supporting bar area with a fridge, icemaker and storage. The wheelhouse area is the area with the largest glass surfaces. For that reason we made also an other salon here because of its nice panoramic view all around that can be used for amongst others dining as well. Materials used are similar to the other areas but around the dashboard area more dark brown leather can be found in order to avoid reflections in the front windows. Alongside the interior walls a band of special (fake) leather (from the company Majilite) is placed in order to break up the large surface. Other surfaces are detailed with stainless steel inserts as shown on the images adding more interest. |

A NEW GENERATION OF GREEN YACHTS
Next generation hybrid propulsion; energy efficient, lower noise. Guido de Groot Design and Intec Marine are proud to present 2 revolutionary concepts for propulsion which deliver higher efficiency in use of energy, lower noise levels and lower emissions of NOX en CO2: the next generation hybrid propulsion. The Intec Marine hybrid propulsion concept makes use of the innovative electric propulsion setup by Voith (ILJ850) which is powered by two generators. An additional small generator is installed for harbor conditions or at anchor.
At cruising speed one generator is able to generate power for the two propulsion pods and the hotel load. This results in very low noise levels (35 dBA). Sailing the yacht out of the harbor at 6 knots can be done using the batteries. The second generator is for redundancy purposes and needs to be started to reach maximum speed. At harbour conditions the smaller third generator is use
Compared to a conventional setup where three diesel engines (two for propulsion and one for hotel load) are continuously running, a 30% reduction of use in energy is aimed for. In design, construction and operation of the yacht, special care is taken of environmental issues. The yacht will have a RINA marine green star design certificate. RINA's green star notation has become a watchword for environmental excellence in shipping, placing owners and operators in an advantageous position. |
DESIGN PROJECT MULDER 22M
![]() |
The inspiration for the interior of the Mulder Convertible 72 comes from the owners' request for a modern and contemporary home for themselves and their guests. The team at Guido de Groot Design, working in close cooperation with Mulder Shipyard, created a design concept which provided luxury, comfort and ease of use. The inspired combination of satin oak paneling with high gloss makassar ebony was instantly liked by the owner. Bright red, gold and cream fabrics were specified for the interior and combine beautifully with the platinum art ferro panels. The honey colored oak floor is radially laid throughout, making the boat very practical for intensive use but still providing a luxury and warm feeling. When boarding the Main Salon, you enter the informal cockpit and lounge area. The Main Salon benefits from an influx of natural light due to the exceptionally large sun roof, while in the Lower Saloon, accessed by a number of steps, you'll find an open galley and large informal dining area. For the 22 meter Convertible the VIP cabin and day head are located forward of the Lower Saloon. The Master Cabin is situated amid ship on the lower deck with a bed head fabricated of large leather panels which offer a striking contrast against a wall of bright red fabric. The Master Cabin has a separate bathroom and shower where Onyx is utilized in combination with high gloss Makassar Ebony accents. The Guido de Groot Design team is now looking forward to seeing the beautiful and skillful realization of the design by the Mulder Shipyard. |
