Supercar spirit, superyacht soul

Van der Valk’s 48-metre “Project ZEN” (Yard no. WV0149) represents the shipyard’s most ambitious build to date, set to become the largest member of their fleet when delivered in Q2 2028. The all-aluminium yacht, totaling 499 GT. Project ZEN is designed by Guido de Groot.

Guido de Groot explains, “Project ZEN is built on an entirely new platform, developed with efficiency as a top priority. The owner wanted a hull shape that would support smaller engines and maximise range. As top speed wasn’t a concern, we focused on a long, sleek form that supports the yacht’s elegant styling.” The sports car-inspired streamlined design reflects the owner’s unique involvement: “He enjoys viewing his yacht from the water while swimming and asked to show renderings of how she will appear from that perspective.”

The yacht prioritizes family-focused entertaining with extensive outdoor spaces, including a generous bow lounge, spa pool, split-level sundeck with wet bar and alfresco dining, and a main aft deck flowing to a large sea terrace with fold-down bulwarks. Notably, the interior layout breaks from tradition with a show galley as the centerpiece rather than a formal salon.
